ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities plan to present the weapons acquired in recent years to the public in the near future, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced while in Kapan as part of the ruling Civil Contract party's internal campaign.
"Two or three months ago, I made a statement that I would take citizens who wanted to see what we had purchased and show them everything. Several groups have already been invited and shown it, but the number of people is so large that we came to the conclusion that it needs to be shown to everyone, it needs to be shown publicly," Pashinyan told the citizens.
He also emphasized that "this is being done with an emphasis on peace and in the context of peace."
"There is peace, there are no tensions with our neighbors, and we hope they will not perceive this as a demonstration of aggression." We will report to our people, and this will happen, I think, in May: we will show what we have acquired. Again, this is not preparation for war, although yes, there was a time when we thought there would be a war and prepared.
We will only show the weapons acquired during our reign, and primarily after 2022.
Yes, there is peace now, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have a defensive army. Because without an army, there could be a temptation to commit aggression against our country," Nikol Pashinyan said.
