Prominent political figure Artsashes Geghamyan dies 

ArmInfo.Prominent Armenian political figure Artashes Geghamyan has passed away at the  age of 74. Geghamyan was a member of the RA National Assembly of the 1st-3rd, 5th and 6th convocations. In 1997, he founded and headed the National Unity Party.

In 1998, 2003 and 2008, he was a candidate for President of the  Republic of Armenia.  Artashes Geghamyan was born on December 2, 1949  in Yerevan. In 1971, he graduated from the Yerevan Polytechnic  Institute named after Karl Marx. In 1988-1990, he was a student at  the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the  CPSU.
