ArmInfo. Armenia will add another holiday - Navasard. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia is discussing amendments to the Law "On Holidays and Memorial Days" at its June 17 session.
According to the author of the legislative initiative, NA MP Gegham Nazaryan, the proposed amendments largely preserve existing holidays and memorial days and organize them in a more appropriate order, ensuring chronology and logic. The author also proposes adding another holiday - Navasard - to the law, establishing it as a day of national traditions, culture, and Armenian unity. It is proposed to celebrate it on August 11. The author believes that this holiday will not only contribute to the preservation and dissemination of national cultural values but will also become an important day for Diaspora Armenians to participate in festive events. However, this day will be a working day.
Another proposal by the author is to designate certain holidays or memorial days associated with national minorities as non-working days. The MP also suggests establishing non-working days or finding another solution for the main holidays of the Armenian Apostolic Church - Christmas, Easter, Vardavar, the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the days of commemoration of the departed.
Similar to Yerevan Day, it is proposed to establish regional holidays that would promote domestic tourism.
