ArmInfo.Ankara is openly supporting the current Armenian government in the June parliamentary elections, as evidenced by a telephone conversation four days ago between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and de facto Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This opinion was expressed by Varuzhan Geghamyan, a PhD in history and Turkologist.
"Considering that only four days remain until the elections, a phone call with Turkish President Erdogan and his publication of such a message in diplomatic language are perceived as support for the de facto government of Armenia.
If expressing direct support in an open text message weren't problematic (for now), then there would be no need to present it in such a package," Geghamyan noted in a post on his social media.
On the evening of June 2, it was reported that Pashinyan and Erdogan had spoken on the phone. The agenda included issues of Armenian-Turkish normalization and regional affairs.
