ArmInfo. Azerbaijan presented a concept to the UN and the EU for the settlement of Azerbaijanis in Armenia. Narek Karapetyan, a member of the political council of the "Strong Armenia" party, announced this at a press conference in Yerevan on May 30, adding that all relevant information is available on official Azerbaijani websites and portals.
He recalled that following the violent occupation of Artsakh in 2023, a new concept for the settlement of Azerbaijanis in Armenia was launched. According to him, the Azerbaijani authorities have been making active efforts in this direction for the past four months.
"After securing the road to Sunik, they concentrated their efforts on the ideology of so-called 'return.' Eleven days after the elections in Armenia, Azerbaijanis are planning a large forum dedicated to 'return' in Ordubad, Nakhichevan, located 10 km from the Meghri community in the Syunik region. It is noteworthy that, according to the Azerbaijani concept, those Azerbaijanis who are deported to Armenia must have their own security forces. Moreover, the Armenian constitution must be available in Azerbaijani, and they must have access to Azerbaijani language training," the politician noted.
According to him, the key areas for settlement are the Armenian towns of Vardenis, Syunik, and Masis. He also emphasized that if they are not allowed to settle, it will be classified as "racism."
He also noted that the current Armenian authorities had already satisfied all of Azerbaijan's demands-the surrender of Artsakh, constitutional amendments, and the surrender of the road to Syunik-and would continue to do so.
Karapetyan reiterated the importance of removing the current authorities, led by Nikol Pashinyan, to end this policy of concession. The politician emphasized that, after coming to power, they will pass an anti- Safarov law that will prevent Azerbaijanis from acquiring any property in Armenia.
Regarding the Armenian authorities' desire to seize the building of the Artsakh Permanent Mission in Yerevan, Karapetyan noted that the Azerbaijanis have their sights set on this building, and the Armenian leadership is doing everything possible to ensure their demands are met.
