ArmInfo.Serj Tankian, frontman of the iconic rock band System of a Down (SOAD), has denied Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's earlier announcement of the band's concert in Yerevan.
On his Instagram profile, Tankian asked, "A SOAD concert in Yerevan?" and wrote that there seems to be some confusion.
The musician stated that the performance was previously planned for July of this year, but due to logistical and other difficulties, the decision was made to postpone the concert. "We will announce a new date as soon as it is agreed upon. Thank you," Tankian wrote. In this regard, Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan reported on her Facebook page that the possibility of holding a SOAD concert in July had been discussed. However, a number of organizational issues, including time constraints, prevent the concert from taking place in July. "However, the concert remains on the agenda, and we will coordinate the dates with the band in the near future," Andreasyan stated.
Days earlier, as part of a campaign in the Avan administrative district, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced a SOAD concert in Yerevan at Republic Square in July of this year.
