ArmInfo. "The leadership of the Russian Federation warns us every day, and if the Armenian authorities fail to understand this, I can state with absolute certainty that it is indeed a warning," said Samvel Karapetyan, the "Strong Armenia" party's candidate for Prime Minister of Armenia. He made these remarks during a discussion with editors of major media outlets, commenting on a statement by the Russian Deputy Prime Minister regarding an upcoming review of Armenia's EAEU membership at the Supreme Council session.
Karapetyan emphasized that Armenian officials do not grasp the potentially catastrophic consequences this situation could entail. According to Karapetyan, the recent restrictions imposed on flower exports from Armenia to Russia are only the beginning. "This will continue until the authorities realize what is happening," the party leader asserted.
Recall,, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk stated in an interview with TASS that the current situation regarding Armenia will be discussed by heads of state at the upcoming Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting on May 29 in Astana. "There will be a discussion on Armenia's status within the Eurasian Economic Union. The issue is highly complex. Once again: we do not want Armenia to leave the EAEU; we want Armenia to continue to prosper. However, we see the challenges that will arise if Armenia aligns more closely with the EU. In principle, they are already emerging," Overchuk said.
