ArmInfo.A single, specific force should bear the responsibility for governing the country following the June parliamentary elections in Armenia, as stated by Narek Karapetyan, a board member of the "Strong Armenia party", s in an interview with News.am. H e was responding to a request for clarification regarding which coalitions the "Strong Armenia" bloc intends to form if the opposition secures more votes than the ruling "Civil Contract" party, but no single force manages to attain a 50 + 1 majority.
According to Karapetyan, the opposition forces in Armenia have already answered this question. "The responsibility for governing the country and for change must rest with a specific force, and we believe that 'Strong Armenia' is the one that can bring about change. We don't think it's right to share this responsibility with anyone. However, if other political forces have professionals in certain fields, we will invite them to join and work with us. It's like in business: we won't care which political force these people belong to, as long as they can do a good job," the Strong Armenia party board member said.
Karapetyan also clarified what they intend to do if the ruling party loses the election but refuses to relinquish power. "Power derives from legitimacy. At that point, the people of Armenia will no longer accept them. If the people elect the leader of the 'Strong Armenia' party, Samvel Karapetyan, then regardless of what they might attempt to do, they will no longer be able to make decisions. Just as the people brought them to power, the people will also send them 'home' albeit a little richer," Karapetyan concluded.
Recall, previously, the "Armenia" bloc led by the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, and Gagik Tsarukyan's "Prosperous Armenia" party both expressed readiness to support whichever opposition force secures the highest percentage of votes in the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7, 2026.
