ArmInfo. Armen Asatryan, Deputy Chairman of the Anti- Corruption Committee of Armenia, and Alexander Tiguy, Legal Attache of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for Armenia and Georgia, have signed a memorandum extending their cooperation for an additional three-year period.
According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia, during the meeting, Asatryan noted that since the signing of the initial memorandum, seven training programs have been organized for the Committee's investigative and operational-intelligence units, alongside approximately 30 professional consultations. The Deputy Chairman emphasized that these initiatives were conducted with the consistent and active support of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, specifically the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), which has contributed significantly to the effectiveness and stability of this partnership.
In his remarks, Mr. Tiguy stated that the extension of the memorandum would allow both nations to continue and deepen their collaboration. He reaffirmed that the agreement reflects the importance of their professional relationship and confirmed that the FBI remains committed to supporting the Anti-Corruption Committee's efforts to combat corruption effectively. Concluding the meeting, Mr. Asatryan highlighted the vital importance of the continuous development of the partnership between the two agencies. He expressed confidence that this cooperation will continue to strengthen the rule of law, ensure justice, and bolster public trust.
Recall, the previous memorandum was signed in June 2022 during an official visit to Washington, D.C., by Mushegh Babayan, then-Acting Deputy Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee. The primary objective of the memorandum is to facilitate direct communication and information exchange between the two peer institutions, collaborate on the investigation of corruption-related crimes, and organize exchange programs, training courses, and professional workshops.
