Artur Nahapetyan, Chairman of the Armenian Anti- Corruption Committee, presented the authority's mandate in preventing and detecting electoral crimes to a delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Damien Cottier, in connection with the upcoming June parliamentary elections in the country. The delegation is in Armenia on a two-day visit.
According to the press service of the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee, during the meeting, the parties emphasized the agency's role in ensuring the transparency and legality of electoral processes, as well as effective coordination of work to ensure a rapid and consistent response to existing risks.
Nahapetyan noted that the Anti-Corruption Committee, as the only pre-trial investigation body implementing operational investigative functions, is actively and consistently working to prevent and solve electoral crimes. He stated that the most recent crimes solved by the committee primarily involved cases of bribery and violations of the ban on charitable donations. As a reminder, parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 7, 2026. Nineteen political forces are participating.
The pre-election period runs from May 8 to June 5. Campaigning is prohibited the day before the vote, June 6, and until 8:00 PM on election day.
