ArmInfo.  The recent phone call between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian  President Vladimir Putin did not signal a resolution to the ongoing  crisis in Armenian-Russian relations, but rather confirmed that the  strategic differences between the parties continue to deepen. That  assessment was shared on Facebook by Suren Surenyants, a political  scientist and leader of the Democratic Alternative party.

ArmInfo. The telephone conversation between Pashinyan and Putin and the subsequent exchange of information show that existing problems are not only not being  resolved but are actually tending to worsen. Tigran Abrahamyan,  former deputy from the opposition "With Honor" faction, wrote on his  Facebook page. 

ArmInfo. CSTO involvement in the conflict around Nagorno-Karabakh was impossible  because Armenia did not recognize this territory, as stated by   Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova at the  Gvardeysk youth forum.

ArmInfo.  A complaint has been filed with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding the case of former Nagorno-Karabakh state minister and philanthropist Ruben  Vardanyan, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Azerbaijan.  This was stated in a statement by Siranush Sahakyan, attorney and  president of the Center for International and Comparative Law, who  represents Armenian prisoners at the ECHR. Her statement was  published on Vardanyan's official social media pages. Saakyan stated  that the complaint regarding the case of Ruben Vardanyan, a citizen  of the Republic of Armenia currently held in the Umbaki Penitentiary  Complex in Azerbaijan, was filed with the ECHR on July 19, 2026.

ArmInfo.  Following Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev's visit to Germany, relations between Baku and  Berlin are moving beyond the traditional model, which saw Azerbaijan  primarily as an energy supplier. This is the opinion of Sergei  Markedonov, PhD in history, leading researcher at the Center for  Euro-Atlantic Security at the Institute of International Studies at  MGIMO University, and editor-in-chief of the journal "International  Analytics."

ArmInfo. The "3+3" regional platform is a vital mechanism for regional cooperation, and Azerbaijan is ready to host its next meeting, as stated by  Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at a press conference, following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow  on July 17.

ArmInfo.The situation in the South Caucasus is set to be one of the key items on the agenda during talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov. Lavrov announced this as he opened negotiations with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, who has  arrived in Moscow for an official visit.

ArmInfo.  Russia is ready to provide the requested assistance in the full normalization of  relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including on the conclusion  of a peace treaty, border delimitation, and the unblocking of  communications. This was stated in a statement by the Russian Foreign  Ministry in connection with the upcoming official visit to Moscow of  Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and scheduled talks with  his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov. 

ArmInfo.The Russian Federation fully supports the approach of keeping the "3+3" international platform—which includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Iran, and Turkey—free from politicization, as stated by Maria Zakharova,  official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

There's no point in pretending that there are no political contradictions between Baku and Moscow, the First  Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs and  Russia's Special Representative for Migration and Citizenship noted  in an interview with the radio station "Moscow Speaking."

ArmInfo.  The very fact of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's working visit to Russia  creates opportunities for restoring Armenian-Russian dialogue, but  it's too early to talk about a real thaw in bilateral relations. This  opinion was shared by political analyst and economist Grant Mikaelyan  in an interview with an ArmInfo correspondent. "The fact of the visit  itself offers certain hope and creates opportunities, given that  Moscow was initially against such a visit. We saw that the previous  meeting between Putin and Pashinyan (on April 1 — Ed.) was not very  successful," Mikaelyan noted.
