Sports village to be built in Armenia to host Pan-Armenian Games

ArmInfo.  A sports village will be built in the Jrvezh community of Armenia's Kotayk Province to host the Summer and Winter Pan-Armenian Games. At its April 9 meeting, the Armenian government decided to provide assistance to the World  Pan-Armenian Games Committee during the first 60 months of the  investment program.

As Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan noted in his speech, the  project itself consists of three phases. During the discussion of the  first phase, which will last five years, it became clear that the  Committee will not be able to fully implement the project during this  period using its own funds and donations, but this will become  possible in subsequent years. Therefore, the options of either direct  financial assistance or land and property rent exemptions were  discussed. Based on these results, a decision was made to allocate  funds from the country's state budget annually for the next five  years to address the issue of rent payments. Over the next five  years, the total state allocation will be approximately 165 million  drams (35 million drams annually).

It should be noted that the rationale for the draft decision states  that the sports village will be located on a 23.3-hectare site within  the reserve and park complex. This site is being granted to the  Pan-Armenian Games Committee for a period of 50 years. The investment  program envisages the creation of a sports village for the  Pan-Armenian Games, which will not only serve as a residence for  athletes during the Games but also host various youth events,  including accommodation for Armenian Diaspora students,  multidisciplinary Armenian-Diaspora cooperation programs, and  recreation and entertainment. The total budget for the program will  be approximately 20.9 billion drams.

The project will be implemented in three stages, the completion of  which is expected to result in the creation of a modern sports  village with a capacity of up to 6,000 people. The project will also  create approximately 1,240 new jobs. It is also planned to plant  approximately 20,000 trees. The initial stages of construction will  include eco-friendly cottages, a cafeteria, and a medical center, as  well as infrastructure improvements.
