ArmInfo. The Armenian Ministry of Health is expanding the pool of candidates for medical center director positions. The corresponding bill was approved at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health Care on March 18.
The draft law was presented by Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan. She noted that previously, only specialists with a medical education could apply for these positions. The new rules will allow professionals with management and administrative experience to be considered as well, which, according to the ministry, will improve the efficiency of managing specialized institutions.
Medical education was previously mandatory. Now, specialists with a medical education and management experience in public health, as well as professionals without a medical education but with relevant organizational experience and experience working in medical institutions, are eligible to apply for the position. The Minister also emphasized the need to strengthen the role of deputy heads of medical work.
