


ArmInfo.In Armenia, banking secrecy data may be transferred to law enforcement agencies electronically. At its March 18 meeting, the RA National Assembly Committee on State and Legal Affairs approved amendments to the Criminal Code and a package of related laws submitted by the RA government.
According to Gevorg Kocharyan, RA Deputy Minister of Justice, the process is currently carried out entirely in paper form, which complicates and complicates criminal proceedings. Additionally, there are issues with meeting reasonable timeframes for case review. The legal norms proposed in the draft will allow for the process of obtaining information containing banking and related secrets electronically. The implementation of this process electronically is aimed at reducing the time and resources spent processing and preparing information, allowing the body handling the case to provide the necessary information containing banking and related secrets within the timeframes established by the court, thereby facilitating compliance with the principle of reasonable timeframes for case consideration.
However, the Deputy Minister emphasized that receiving the relevant data electronically does not imply that information constituting banking or related secrets can be transmitted by any electronic means, including official or work email addresses.
