ArmInfo. The Center for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring of the RA Ministry of Environment has officially debunked reports claiming that acid-toxic rain has entered the country from Iran.
"In connection with the dissemination of media reports of acid-toxic rain, we inform you that the Center for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring of the Ministry of Environment is conducting high-quality monitoring of atmospheric precipitation at the Amberd observation station. Based on the results of the study of the composition of atmospheric precipitation on March 7-8, no changes in the acidity, anionic, or cationic composition of the precipitation were observed," the statement reads.
Southern cyclones entering the Republic of Armenia are observed primarily from regions of Iraq, not Iran; such cyclones from Iran are extremely rare.
"We also note that for the next 10 days, air currents are moving from west to east in Iran, meaning air masses are moving from Iran to Turkmenistan. The Center for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring is constantly monitoring atmospheric phenomena, and the public will be informed if any changes occur. We strongly urge the public to follow only official information provided by the Center," the statement concluded.
