ArmInfo. Azerbaijani authorities have instructed to evacuate personnel from Iran. The process applies to both embassy in Tehran and the consulate in Tabriz.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced at a joint press conference in Baku with Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Pop?oi that President Ilham Aliyev has ordered the complete evacuation of diplomatic personnel from Iran.
He added that Baku will also await the results of the Iranian investigation into the drone attacks, and further steps and decisions will be taken depending on its findings.
On March 5, Azerbaijan announced that four Iranian drones had struck Nakhchivan. In response, the Iranian ambassador was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. Moreover, on the same day, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev convened the country's Security Council . As usual, Aliyev threatened Azerbaijan with an "iron fist," labeling the incident terrorism, and promised a proportionate response. Furthermore, Azerbaijan closed its border with Iran and suspended checkpoints with Iran. Iran, through its Foreign Ministry and General Staff, denied any involvement in the attack on the Nakhchivan airport. However, independent experts believe that Azerbaijan is thus preparing the ground for possible involvement in the conflict against Iran on the side of the United States and Israel.
