Armenian officials to pass integrity test to be promoted 

ArmInfo. It is proposed that provisions be included in the appointment and promotion process for a group of officials allowing for the publication of the final  part of both the negative and positive integrity assessments issued  by the Corruption Prevention Commission.

At its February 26 meeting, the RA National Assembly Committee on State and Legal Affairs issued a positive opinion on the amendments to the Judicial Code and related  laws submitted by the RA government for the second reading.

Introducing the amendments, RA Deputy Minister of Justice Gevork  Kocharyan noted that these officials include investigators,

heads of investigative bodies, prosecutors, the Prosecutor General,  judges, including judges of the Cassation Court, members of the  Supreme Judicial Council, and judges of the Constitutional Court. The  adoption of the package, as the Deputy Minister noted, is driven by  the Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2023- 2026, as well as commitments  made during the 5th evaluation round of the Organisation for Economic  Co- operation and Development (OECD).

Individuals will be given the opportunity to more actively  participate in the process of drawing up an opinion on their  impeccable reputation. They will have the opportunity to submit  written objections, clarifications, and other necessary materials and  information to the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption before  the final opinion is drawn up. Individuals will have the right to  request the publication of their objections, or part of them, along  with the final opinion. The adoption of this legislative package is  expected to increase the transparency of the bodies making  appointments based on the advisory opinions of the Commission for the  Prevention of Corruption, which will contribute to the strategic  goals of preventing corruption and strengthening the human rights  protection system.
