ArmInfo. The achievements of the Artsakh Movement, gained at the cost of severe hardships and an unspeakable struggle, have been lost as a result of the adventurous "policy" of the current Armenian authorities and gross violations of the constitutions of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh, as noted in a statement issued by the National Assembly of Artsakh on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the Artsakh Movement.
The statement recalls that 38 years ago, an extraordinary session of the Council of People's Deputies of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast (NKAO) was held in Stepanakert. A decision was made to transfer the NKAO from the Azerbaijan SSR to the Armenian SSR, a move that became fateful for our people over the next four decades.
The Artsakh parliament added that over the course of three decades, at the cost of the lives of thousands of dedicated individuals and the heroic struggle of the entire Armenian people, the Armenians of Artsakh regained their dignity and identity, moving closer to realizing their age-old dream of full unity with their Motherland and state. "However, as a result of the adventurous 'policy' of the current Armenian authorities, gross violations of the constitutions of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh, as well as fundamental norms of international law, not only we have lost what was hard won through severe hardship and unspeakable struggle, but the Armenians of Artsakh have also faced ethnic cleansing and genocide, and forced displacement," the NKR legislative body emphasized.
The NKR National Assembly emphasized that today, the enemy has not only captured their native Artsakh, but is also issuing so-called 'sentences' on the military-political leadership of Artsakh, taken hostage, and other captives, based on fabricated charges. The Artsakh National Assembly added that, at the same time, with the silent permission of the Armenian authorities, the enemy is destroying material evidence of the Armenian spiritual heritage-shrines, monasteries, and churches-in an attempt to erase the Armenian traces of the region. " As elected representatives of the people of the Republic of Artsakh, we congratulate the pioneers of the national liberation struggle of 1988 and all the sons of the Armenian people worldwide who were inspired by this revival. We express our condolences to the families of the thousands of martyrs who gave their lives at every stage of the liberation struggle. In memory of our martyrs and for the sake of realizing the thousand-year heroic history of Artsakh, we preserve the unwavering unity of the people of Artsakh. We will rely on the determination of our people to return to their native Artsakh and will make every effort to ensure the return of our people and the full realization of their inherent right to self- determination," the parliament concluded.
The statement was signed by the Free Homeland - Regional State Administration faction, the United Homeland Party, the Justice faction, the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party, and the Democratic Party of Artsakh faction.
