Dolakia was informed that, in light of this, and in accordance with Article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, this person's accreditation is being revoked," the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service said in a statement.
The ministry added that he must leave the Russian Federation within two weeks.
"It was reiterated that Moscow will not tolerate the activities of undeclared British intelligence officers on Russian territory. It was stated that Russia's uncompromising position on this issue will continue to be implemented in accordance with our country's national security interests.
A warning was also issued that if London escalates the situation, Russia will respond decisively," the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.
