


ArmInfo. The United States needs Greenland to ensure its national security, and NATO should lead the process of its conquest, US President Donald Trump stated.
"The United States needs Greenland for its national security. It is vital to the Golden Dome we are building. NATO must lead the process of its conquest," the US leader wrote in Truth Social.
Greenland's Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, emphasized that Greenland does not want to be part of the United States and that the island chooses Denmark. In response, Donald Trump called the Greenlanders' reluctance to join the United States "their problem."
On January 12, a bill to "annex Greenland" and grant it statehood was introduced in the US Congress. According to Republican Congressman Randy Fine, the amendments are aimed at ensuring US strategic national security interests in the Arctic and countering growing threats from China and Russia.
Against this backdrop, the Danish Ministry of Defence has sent military equipment and advance troops to Greenland to prepare to receive larger forces from the country's army, Danmarks radio reports.
