


ArmInfo. The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has revealed that the head of a department at the State Institute of Physical Culture, using his official powers, accepted bribes from the parents of students at the institute in exchange for favoritism.
Specifically, according to the information, a preliminary investigation revealed that he received a bribe from the father of another student studying at the same institute in August 2025 in exchange for favoritism, that is, for resolving potential problems during his studies.
Furthermore, it was established that in October 2025, with the assistance of a former student of the institute, he received a bribe from the student's parent in exchange for resolving potential obstacles to another student's entrance exams.
The department head has been charged with bribery under Article 435, Part 2, Clause 3 (two counts) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The arrest was made as a preventive measure, which was later replaced by house arrest and bail of 10 million drams.
Charges were also brought against three individuals for bribery and facilitating the acceptance of a bribe. One of them was arrested, and the others were placed under house arrest, released on bail, and banned from leaving the Republic of Armenia.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the case materials have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia along with the indictment.
