ArmInfo. Following a long-standing tradition, Armenia's National Philharmonic Orchestra celebrated the conclusion of the New Year's holidays with its Vienna GALA concert.
At the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, under the baton of maestro Eduard Topchyan, performed the swift and fiery polkas "Lightning and Thunder," "Trick- Track," "Fire Festival," and "On the Hunt," as well as the solemn marches "Napoleon" and "Egyptian March," setting the rhythm of history. The program also included famous Viennese waltzes by the Strauss dynasty-"Sounding Spheres," "Imperial," "the Blue Danube," and others. The concert traditionally concluded with the "Radetzky" march, after which the audience gave the orchestra a standing ovation and shouts of "Bravo!"
That evening, the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra breathed new life into the legendary Strauss masterpieces, presenting them in a profound, original interpretation, with vibrant and warm colors, under the masterful direction of Eduard Topchyan. During the concert, the maestro conducted not only the orchestra but also the audience's emotions, drawing them ever more deeply into the proceedings.
The dance portion of the evening was entrusted to the artists of the Barekamutyun State Ensemble, who, accompanied by elegant gentlemen, performed ballroom dances right in the foyer. The couples presented two more dance numbers during the concert.
"And yet, the Vienna GALA is an event where time seems to stand still, and the bustle of everyday life gives way to the glitter of gilded interiors, the rustle of ball gowns, and a special festive magic that has united the world for nearly a century and a half," the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra's statement reads.
Recall , the Vienna Gala comes just two days after the orchestra returned from a tour in China where it performed nine concerts to great acclaim on the stages of prestigious concert halls in China's largest cities.
