ArmInfo. December 10th is celebrated worldwide as International Human Rights Da. However, in Armenia, it's celebrated not amid progress, but amid profound regression. Mane Tandilyan, co-founder of the "Country to Live" party, wrote on social media.
"We live in a reality where fundamental human rights are grossly violated, and the authorities neglect the state's primary mission of protecting the freedoms and dignity of its citizens. Today, we have political prisoners, people subjected to pressure solely for their opinions, beliefs, or political stances. Today, citizens in our country are arrested not for breaking the law, but for criticizing the government. This is not only unacceptable, but also dangerous as it undermines the progress and development of the state. Meanwhile, the state itself is the first and foremost guarantor of human rights. The protection of human rights must become a priority for the new government to ensure a strong and developed Armenia," the politician wrote.
