ArmInfo. The Saint Mary station of Tehran's Line 6 has officially opened, the Iranian Embassy in Armenia reported.
"On Saturday, November 29, the Saint Mary station of Line 6 was opened. This 11,000-square-meter station was built next to the Armenian Cathedral and serves the intersection of Ostad Nejatollahi and Karimkhan Zand Streets," the Iranian Embassy tweeted (X).
Media outlets previously reported that the new station is decorated in a Christian style-the walls feature bas-reliefs depicting the Virgin Mary, Jesus Christ, a dove (symbol of the Holy Spirit), grapevines, and Christian crosses. Flowers and architectural motifs from the Armenian Church of St. Sarkis, located nearby, are depicted alongside the image of the Virgin Mary. Authorities emphasize that the opening of the station under the name of the Virgin Mary is a sign of respect for the Christian community and a symbol of religious tolerance.
