ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will attend the Holy and Immortal Liturgy at the Surb Sarkis Church in Yerevan on Sunday, November 30. He announced this live on his Facebook page.
"I would also like to point out that I was baptized in the Surb Sarkis Church," Pashinyan said. It should be noted that since May 29, when Pashinyan compared Armenian churches to closets at a government meeting, and his wife, Anna Hakobyan, called clergy the country's main pedophiles, the head of the Armenian cabinet has declared that Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II has violated his vow of celibacy, and therefore, in his opinion, should resign from his priesthood. He promises to provide evidence if the latter decide to challenge his accusations in court. For now, he has announced his decision to create a special coordination group to remove the Catholicos and is participating in liturgies conducted by defrocked clergy. According to him, these liturgies are part of the program "to liberate the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and renew the Armenian Apostolic Church." The first such liturgy was held in Hovhannavank, celebrated by the defrocked Stepan Asatryan. Pashinyan then attended liturgies at the Church of the Holy Mother of God in Talin, Aragatsotn Province, the Church of the Holy Mother of God in the village of Khachik, Vayots Dzor, and the Church of Saint Hakob in the village of Ararat, Ararat Province. On November 12, in a conversation with reporters, the prime minister stated that he would go to pray at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin only after he "feels sufficiently purified."
