


ArmInfo. Armenian Environment Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan met with Monique Barbut, Minister for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity, and International Negotiations on Climate and Nature of France.
According to the Ministry's press service, the meeting focused on priorities in environmental protection, water resource management, climate policy and enhancing bilateral cooperation, as well as developing an effective partnership between Armenia and France in environmental protection, which began in 2016 and is primarily being implemented through several EU-funded programs.
The Armenian Minister commended the joint work on developing water resource management plans, the ongoing digitalization of water resource data, and the creation of the Ecoportal. He presented the innovative "Climate Debt" financial instrument, which enables additional funding to support climate programs and helps reduce the financial burden. The discussion also touched on cooperation between the two countries on international platforms, including commitments made under the Paris Agreement and France's expert support in organizing COP17.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue close cooperation aimed at protecting the environment and jointly addressing climate challenges.
