The 11th Armenia- EU Subcommittee meeting on People-to-People Contacts was co-chaired by Artur Martirosyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, and Deren Derya, Head of Division for Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Belarus, Eastern Neighborhood and Central Asia Directorate, European External Action Service.
The event was also attended by Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, Head of the EU Mission to Armenia, representatives from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, other relevant ministries, the European Commission, and the EU Delegation to Armenia.
"We have clear goals and initiatives that require joint efforts in every sector. The development agenda in the areas coordinated by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport is comprehensive: we strive to create subsectors that comply with European standards. In this context, it is important to understand how we can most effectively utilize EU support and partnership. Moreover, EU support goes beyond financial assistance, providing expert support, that allows us to implement the best practices of the EU in Armenia," emphasized Artur Martirosyan.
The Deputy Minister touched upon the dialogue in the field of education, as well as ongoing reform programs and new initiatives in culture, youth, and science.
EU Representative Deren Derya emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, noting the extensive potential for collaboration in education, scientific research, innovation, culture, and vocational training.
