
ArmInfo.The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (MESCS) considers it important to introduce the study of Georgian as a foreign language in Armenian schools and to train relevant specialists, as stated by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, during a meeting with a delegation led by Mariam Lashkhi, Chairperson of the Commission on Education, Science, and Youth Affairs of Georgia.
According to the Minister, this will increase the number of schools teaching Georgian in Armenia. The parties emphasized the need for joint efforts to organize the teaching of Armenian language and literature in Armenian-language schools in Georgia and to provide these schools with textbooks. As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture and Sports, in the context of expanding cooperation in science and research, the parties noted the importance of the Center for Georgian Studies at Yerevan State University (YSU) and emphasized the implementation of the Interstate Scholarship Program, which provides 10 Master's degree scholarships on an exchange basis, including in Armenian and Georgian studies.
Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the need for close and effective cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities of the two countries. The Minister also pointed out the importance of holding youth forums in both countries, highlighting their role in enhancing dialogue and cooperation among young people, implementing new initiatives, and deepening friendly ties.
In turn, Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Georgian Parliamentary Commission, noted the significant potential for sectoral cooperation between the two countries. In this context, she proposed exploring the expansion of scientific ties through collaborative international educational and research programs, including within the framework of Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe.
