ArmInfo. An exceptional temporary exhibition, both in content and significance, has opened at the Yeghishe Charents Museum of Literature and Art. Over 100 graphic canvases and self-portraits by the great American writer of Armenian descent William Saroyan are being exhibited in one of the halls of the Museum as part of the "Saroyan Days" initiative.
In an interview with an ArmInfo correspondent, Melania Stepanyan, the Museum's tour guide, said that although this aspect of Saroyan's talent was not so widely known in Armenia, over 5,000 graphic works were discovered in his French apartment. These canvases, according to her, cover two periods of the writer's life: the 1930s and the 1960s to the early 1980s.
It is worth noting that Saroyan's works exhibited at the Museum of Literature and Art were painted in his native Fresno, as well as in New York, San Francisco and Paris. On each canvas, the writer indicates the date and place of its creation.
Note that the exhibition will be open until the end of 2025. The Museum's working hours are from Tuesday to Sunday (from 11:00 to 17:30). The entrance ticket costs 3,000 AMD.
