ArmInfo. A presentation of the "Mer dzevov" ("In Our Way") movement took place in Yerevan. The movement is founded at the initiative of Samvel Karapetyan, the head of Tashir GC, who is currently in prison. It is called upon to unite people willing to serve the country and society.
Recall that Samvel Karapetyan announced the creation of the movement "In Our Way" on August 13, the day before the Anti-Corruption Court considered the petition to extend his arrest. "Our goals are to develop the economy, create real opportunities for business and enrichment, strengthen family and national values, restore Armenia's reputation as a reliable partner, ensure the right of the people of Artsakh to a decent life, return the youth's faith in the future by developing the education system, and preserve and protect our Holy Church," the businessman said in his statement.
"We have reached a point in Armenia's socio-political life where the people's expectations are not being met. Hatred and contradictions are being sown," Narek Karapetyan, the businessman's nephew and head of the "In Our Way" movement, said today. He expressed regret that "some people haven't transitioned from being editors of opposition tabloids to becoming state and unifying political figures". "Hatred in opposition, which has become a response to injustice, prevents it from seeing the situation calmly and without emotion", he added. He recalled that previously the residents of Armenia were called "proud citizens", but now they are convinced that it is necessary to constantly make concessions, because otherwise it is impossible.
However, the Armenian people can do it in their own way. Today we are announcing the establishment of a voluntary movement "In Our Way"," Karapetyan noted. He explained why they are announcing the launch of a movement, and not a political party. "A movement is a convenient format for unification, it is not politicized, its members can be representatives of different professions and views who can contribute in their spare time," Karapetyan said. According to him, this does not mean that a party will not be created, as the establishment of a movement is the initial stage. At the second stage, a party will be created that will take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Five working groups will be created in five different areas. The first group will focus on creating a new economy: work and welfare for all," Karapetyan said. The second direction, according to him, will be the "Big Armenian Family". This group will work on developing a youth policy and initiatives aimed at demographic growth. The third group will be engaged in developing a foreign policy concept, and the fourth will work on programs to support talented young people. Narek Karapetyan emphasized that the preservation of national values and the Armenian Apostolic Church are the cornerstone of the third direction of the movement.
