


ArmInfo. RA Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan received UK Ambassador John Gallagher, as reported on his Facebook page.
During their meeting, they discussed organizational issues related to the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-17), which is scheduled to be held in Armenia in 2026. The topics covered included financial, technical and partnership aspects. "Ambassador Gallagher expressed interest in our needs and challenges and emphasized that the UK is ready to provide support. We need to determine the specific areas where this support would be most targeted and effective," Hambardzum Matevosyan wrote.
During the discussion, the National Biodiversity Strategy and the steps taken by Armenia to implement the Global Biodiversity Framework were also discussed. "I shared our progress and we also discussed Armenia's participation in the COP-30 conference and the potential composition of the delegation. We emphasized the significance of our participation in these conferences in terms of exchanging experience and enhancing international relationships. As Ambassador Gallagher's diplomatic mission in Armenia comes to an end, I expressed my gratitude for his effective and constructive cooperation and his efforts to bolster relations with Armenia," Hambardzum Matevosyan concluded.
