ArmInfo. The detention and subsequent arrest of businessman and head of the Tashir Group of Companies, Samvel Karapetyan may serve as a catalyst for new political consolidation in the opposition field, according to Hayakve civil initiative.
The publication by the initiative on the telegram channel page mentions that one of the largest philanthropists of the Armenian people, Samvel Karapetyan, was arrested just a few hours after delivering a neutral speech in defense of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC).
"Meanwhile, another well-known philanthropist who defends the church, former Artsakh state minister and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan, who also criticized the prime minister, is now in prison in Baku," Hayakve added. In this vein, the civil initiative noted that the arrests are related to the fact that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sees Samvel Karapetyan as a potential threat to his power. "He has not yet encountered a person of such caliber, and more and more people are convinced that Nikol Pashinyan is the number one coward in Armenia. This is what ultimately led to the detention and arrest of Samvel Karapetyan," Hayakve concluded.
