ArmInfo. This year, France will present 12 films at the Golden Apricot International Film Festival, including those created in co-production, as stated by David Tursz, Executive Director of the French Institute in Armenia and Cultural Attache of the French Embassy.
He noted that the French Embassy has been a loyal partner of the Golden Apricot for 22 years and this year was no exception. Tursz pointed out that this film festival is an important way to connect Armenian and French filmmakers, which could lead to future collaboration.
In partnership with the Embassy of France in Armenia and the French Institute in Armenia, the festival will present a rich program of French cinema to Armenian audiences. As part of the traditional French Cinema Day, the Armenian premiere of Anne-Sophie Baille's film All of Me will take place. The French program will also feature several competition films from the Berlin and Cannes Film Festivals, including The Ice Tower by Lucile Hadzihalilovic, The Orphan by Oliver Laxe Corro, Take Your Heart and Walk by Sepideh Farsi, My Armenian Ghosts by Tamara Stepanyan, and others. With the support of the French Institute, renowned film director and Cannes and Cesar award-winner Abderrahmane Sissako will visit Armenia. He will serve as the head of the international competition jury. A retrospective screening of Sissako's films will also be presented. The festival will also host globally acclaimed French photographer and filmmaker Antoine d'Agata, known for his provocative explorations of taboos and obsessions.
