RA Prosecutor General personally submitted report on Samvel  Karapetyan, which is evidence of political persecution - lawyer 

ArmInfo.  The State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia has revealed a case of illegal mining activity.

At a press conference on July 2, the lawyer stated that the obviously  illegal criminal offense was initiated after the Prosecutor General  of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan personally submitted a report of the  crime to the Investigative Committee. According to the lawyer, he has  never encountered anything like this in his entire practice. <The  court considered this statement as an important justification for the  existence of a crime. However, a copy of the prosecutor's statement  was not provided to the court or to us. The investigator merely  refers to it in his petition>, the lawyer said.

"A little earlier, I was informed that the Prosecutor General Ms.  Vardapetyan touched upon the circumstance of the obvious illegal  prosecution of Samvel Karapetyan. Since I published this fact, I  therefore attribute to myself the right to respond-remark,"  Vardapetyan wrote today on the social network.

Thus, as the lawyer pointed out, he heard confirmation from the  Prosecutor General, and not a refutation of his previously made  statement.

Aram Vardevanyan once again emphasizes that the investigator's motion  referred to the message, and not just once. Thus, the motion to apply  a preventive measure in the form of detention, submitted to the court  by the investigator, directly recorded the following, verbatim: "The  proper message of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia  on an obvious crime dated June 17, 2025." In the court's  substantiating statements as a reasonable suspicion, it is also  verbatim stated: "in particular, the message of the Prosecutor  General of the Republic of Armenia on an obvious crime dated June 17,  2025." That is, the investigator specifically emphasizes that the  Prosecutor General submitted a <proper> message, but the court  decided not to use this term.

"Therefore, let us once again record that the beginning of the legal  absurdity regarding Samvel Karapetyan was given by the Prosecutor  General, which is unprecedented, in itself is one of the next proofs  of political persecution, which is indisputable. By the way,  regarding the alleged case of a crime of medium gravity, regarding  the arrest of Samvel Karapetyan, who had never been convicted before,  and thus once again humiliating the rule of law, alas, nothing was  said," noted lawyer Aram Vardevanyan.
