Candidate for Armenia`s premier calls on opposition to unite 

ArmInfo. , - wrote on a social network the head of the Masis community, member of the RPA Council David Hambardzumyan, now a candidate for prime minister to launch the  process of a vote of no confidence in Pashinyan by the NA faction .

From the first day of seizing power, I have made every effort in  front of all of you to prevent or at least avert a catastrophe.

I and almost all my loved ones were imprisoned on fabricated charges,  but it is impossible to influence my will>, - he noted.

According to Hambardzumyan, he is a supporter of a non-partisan  approach to the struggle. In this regard, he called on all  oppositionists to sincerely unite, expressing his readiness to  respond to all such calls.  

Lord, make the works of our hands righteous and grant success to our  deeds. Amen>, - he summed up.

A little earlier, the RPA, represented by the opposition faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia,  named a candidate for prime minister to launch the process of a vote  of no confidence in Pashinyan

A vote of no confidence in the current Prime Minister can be  discussed in the National Assembly only if at least 36 MPs provide  the signatures required to begin the process. The two opposition  factions (Armenia and I Have the Honor) together comprise 34 MPs.  Another four have independent status. In order to express no  confidence in the head of government, at least 54 out of 107 MPs must  vote for impeachment.

In 2018, the then mayor of Masis and his brother were arrested as  part of the investigation into an incident in the Erebuni  administrative district of Yerevan during the April 2018 events (the  "velvet revolution"), as well as at the crossroads leading to the  villages of Hayanist and Ovtashat in the Ararat region (with the use  of firearms).

On December 5, 2021, David Hambardzumyan announced that charges had  been dropped against him in the case of violence against citizens in  Yerevan on April 22, 2018. At the same time, he stated that the  Investigative Committee had decided to stop pursuing him, since no  evidence of his guilt had been found. 

The former official added that he is currently a defendant in another  case - an attack on protesters that was organized at the crossroads  of roads leading to the villages of Hayanist and Ovtashat, also in  2018. "I got to that crossroads when the conflict there was already  in full swing. I try not to talk about this topic, as I am waiting  for the results of the investigation. We will live and see whether I  am guilty or not," Hambardzumyan said. At the same time, he added  that he is not afraid of pressure and imprisonment.
