Lake Sevan level to lower in 2025 as compared with 2024 

ArmInfo. From May 1 to July 1, 2025, the level of Lake Sevan is predicted to increase by 24-25 cm, which, however, will be 13 cm less than the same indicator of the  previous year. Levon Azinyan, Director of the Hydrometeorology and  Monitoring Center of the RA Ministry of Environment, announced this  at a press conference in April.

According to him, during the specified period of 2024, the level of  Lake Sevan increased by 42 cm.  Azinyan noted that by the end of this  year, the "mirror" of Lake Sevan will be 1900.36 - 1900.43 meters,  which compared to January 2025 will be within the range of -3-+2  meters.

Observations of weather conditions show, Azinyan continued, that the  fullness of the five largest reservoirs of the republic will be  generally within the norm. In particular, it is predicted that the  Akhuryan reservoir will be 100% full, Arpilich - 55-60%, Aparan -  45-50%, Azat - 85-90%, Marmarik - 95-100%.

The forecaster noted that during 2025, the volumes of spring water  flows in Armenia are predicted to be within 55-90% of the norm. The  largest volumes of water flows are expected in the first and second  decades of May.

In general, as Azinyan noted, in October-November 2024, the amount of  precipitation was above the norm, and in November - below. On  average, the snow cover reached 55 mm, which is only 49% of the norm.  Thus, the past winter period turned out to be the "driest" in the  history of meteorological observations, which began in 1935. The  "driest" was January, when the amount of precipitation was only 18%  of the norm, which was the second case in the history of  meteorological observations since 1999. In September 2024 and  February 2025, the monthly amount of precipitation was 45% and 79%,  respectively.  Moreover, in a number of regions, no precipitation was  observed at all for 35-40 days. As of March 25 of this year, snow  cover was observed in the republic only in highland areas at an  altitude of 1800 meters, with the exception of some regions of Lori  and Tavush regions. As for the forecasts for April - June of this  year, during this period the temperature background in the republic  will be above normal, and the amount of precipitation in April - May  will be within normal limits, in June - lower.
