ArmInfo. Blogger Eduard Ayrumyan reports on the mass cutting down of healthy oak trees in the Yerevan Botanical Garden, backing up his words with photo evidence.
Ayrumyan posted photos of cut down healthy trees on his Facebook page, noting that citizens have been complaining about the cutting down of trees in the Yerevan Botanical Garden for a long time.
"Today I decided to go personally and see everything with my own eyes, and, unfortunately, I saw everything that you are now seeing in these photos.
About 30 viable oak trees have been cut down in the Yerevan Botanical Garden (according to eyewitnesses, over the past few months). Don't believe them if they tell you that these trees were dry and sick.
There were a large number of fresh acorns and oak leaves scattered around all the felled trees, proving that the trees were not dry. Young green shoots were visible near the trunks of all the felled trees. There were other truly dead trees (not oaks) in the area that were not cut down, instead, only the oaks were cut down.
Oak wood is the most valuable wood in the modern market (as evidenced by the oak logs), and the market value of wood from one felled tree can reach several million drams.
Google satellite photos clearly show that all the trees in the area were green. This is a crime against the Botanical Garden, nature and Yerevan," the blogger noted.
He also promised to publish a video in the evening, which will show the scale of the tragedy in more detail.
