Majority of Armenian respondents oppose constitutional changes and support early parliamentary elections - Poll

ArmInfo. The majority of  respondents in Armenia oppose constitutional changes and are in favor  of early parliamentary elections in the country, as evidenced by the  results of the survey conducted by the consulting company MPG:  "But  you, my friends, whatever seats you take ".

When asked to express their position on the proposal by Prime  Minister Nikol Pashinyan  to change the country's constitution, 59.6%  of citizens said  they were against this initiative. 18.4% were in  favor of changing some provisions, 14.5% found it difficult to  answer, and only 7.5% of citizens believed the country needed a new  constitution.  In January 2024, only 34.2% of respondents were  against changing the constitution, 38.15% found it difficult to  answer, 14.4% considered it necessary to change some  provisions, and  13.4% were in favor of a new main law for the country.

When asked whether Armenia needs early parliamentary elections, 44%  answered that they definitely do, 16.4% - rather need them, 10.3% -  rather not need them, 23.5% - absolutely do not need them, and  another 5.9% found it difficult to answer.

At the same time, when asked which party they would vote for if early  parliamentary elections were held this weekend, only 11.8% would vote  for the Civil Contract party of current Prime Minister of Armenia  Nikol Pashinyan, representing an increase of 0.5% from respondents.  In second place is the "Armenia" bloc of former President Robert  Kocharyan with 4.7% - a decrease of 1.8%. Following closely in third  place is the political force of blogger Vardan Ghukasyan with 3.5% -  a decrease of 3.3%. At the same time, 32.1% of respondents said that  they would not participate in the electoral processes, 24.6% found it  difficult to answer, 4% refused to answer, 6.2% said that they would  vote for no one, and another 4.7% of respondents planned to spoil  their ballots. When asked to evaluate Pashinyan's performance, 46.5%  of respondents viewed it as absolutely negative, another 19.1% -  rather negative, 15.5% - rather positive, 10% found it difficult to  answer and only 9% - positively assessed his work. For example, in  October 2024, 41.5% of respondents were extremely dissatisfied with  Pashinyan's work, 16.1% were rather dissatisfied, 20.4% were rather  satisfied, 14.1% were satisfied, and 7.9% found it difficult to say.   Respondents also consider the political situation in the country to  be  unstable. This opinion is held by 56.3% of respondents, while  another 16.7% believe that the situation is rather unstable.  Additionally, 16.5% view it as rather stable, 6.4% as absolutely  stable, and  4.2% found it difficult to answer.

It should be noted that the survey was conducted through telephone  calls in February of this year, the sample size was 1100, the  sampling error is +/- 3%.
