Yerevan mayor offers condolences on California wildfire 

ArmInfo. Yerevan expressed condolences to the American people in connection with the fire that occurred in California. Thus, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan expressed his condolences, emphasizing that the residents of the Armenian  capital stand with all those who suffered from this disaster. In  particular, he noted: "The losses and problems you are facing deeply concern us. Know that your pain is shared by everyone, and we keep you in our hearts as you overcome these difficulties. We wish safety to your loved ones and strength to your communities as you unite to heal and rebuild." 

Former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan also commented on the natural disaster raging in one of the American states. He noted that the consequences of the fires also affected the Armenian community, destroying not only residential buildings, but also the buildings of Armenian community structures. In this regard, the former ombudsman recalled that the Armenian Christian school "Sahak-Mesrop", founded in 1980, burned down in Pasadena.

"We express our sympathy and condolences to the people of Los Angeles, and especially to our compatriots. We pray that the disaster will be stopped as soon as possible," Tatoyan wrote.

The wildfires in Los Angeles began on January 7, as a result of which about 180 thousand people were evacuated, and about 10 thousand buildings were destroyed. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office, 24 people died as a result of the fires. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, there are no Armenian citizens among the dead.

In the Armenian segment of social networks, information is being circulated that as a result of the raging fires in California, the private house of the brother of the wife of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia from the ruling Civil Contract faction, Hrachya Hakobyan, also burned down.
