Arman Tatoyan: Azerbaijani military building a military road,  destroying the Shikahogh reserve

ArmInfo.The Azerbaijani military is constructing military roads, leading to the destruction of the Shikahogh reserve in the Syunik region of Armenia. This information was reported in a video message on Telegram by Arman Tatoyan, the former Ombudsman of Armenia and Head of the Tatoyan Foundation.  According to him, these actions of the enemy pose a serious threat to the local population.  

"In order to build a road in the Shikahogh Reserve, thousands of trees are cut down, fauna is  destroyed, mines are placed, and local residents are deprived of  access to drinking water and property.  According to our preliminary  data, many trees have been felled, leading to the destruction of  nature due to road construction. These crimes affect not only the  residents of the Nerkin Hand community, but the entire country," the  former Armenian Ombudsman noted.

In this regard, Tatoyan stated that the current actions of the  Azerbaijani authorities confirm their lack of peaceful intentions. He  once again emphasized that the evidence gathered by his office shows  that the Azerbaijani military is mercilessly damaging the environment  in Armenia.  In a conversation with Tatoyan, residents of Syunik  complained about the frequent sounds of exploding mines, that they  hear almost daily. They believe that the enemy's actions are intended  to impose psychological pressure on the community, creating a  constant atmosphere of fear and unbearable living conditions. The  occupation of the communal territories by Azerbaijan has also  deprived them of their income. "I used to have a large garden of  approximately 0.7 hectares, with 400 trees, which is now controlled  by Azerbaijan. This garden was my family's main source of income, and  now it's gone," shared one of the local residents.

The Tatoyan Foundation has reiterated that as long as the territories  of Armenia remain under the occupation of the Azerbaijani military,  the suffering of people and the violation of their rights to peaceful  existence and security will persist, hindering the possibility of  achieving peace.
