Armenian authorities` actions in Kirants to have grave consequences -  opposition MP

ArmInfo. The "love" of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for the residents of the village of Kirants  from the early morning of May 2 was manifested in the use of police violence against them, Secretary of the opposition faction "Armenia" Artsvik Minasyan stated at a meeting of the National Assembly of the  Republic of Armenia on May 2.

He recalled that the day before, during an interview with the RA  Public Television, Pashinyan, addressing the Kirans, swore his love  for them. "However, today we have all witnessed this "love" when law  enforcement agencies, using brute force, beating the Kirans, took  them to local police stations. All this suggests that we are dealing  with a government that, while terrorizing its own people, does not  stops at nothing, trying to complete anti-state acts," Minasyan said,  adding that these acts are not only condemned, but will also have  more than serious consequences.

The situation around the village of Kirants sharply escalated this  morning after law enforcement forces blocked all the roads leading to  this settlement, everyone was dissatisfied, and more than 20 people,  mostly males, were taken to prison. The situation in the village  remains extremely tense.

The day before, in an interview with the Public Television of  Armenia, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan  noted that in the coming days the process of delimiting the border in  non- problematic areas of the village of Kirants will begin. The  Prime Minister noted that there are 11 points in the village that are  subject to delimitation. Pashinyan especially noted that, in general,  the village residents do not dispute the already agreed border; they  have objections to 3-4 points. "We will begin delimitation in that  part that is not disputed by the village residents, but we will look  for solutions to the remaining points.  We must do everything to  protect the rights of the villagers," Pashinyan said.

On April 19, the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the  results of the eighth meeting of state commissions, announced that  Yerevan and Baku agreed to begin delimitation from the Tavush region  and by July 1 to complete the approval of the draft regulations on  the joint activities of delimitation commissions. Since the evening  of the same day, residents of the border villages of Tavush,  dissatisfied with these agreements, have been holding protests.
