In Armenia, museums to have to undergo accreditation to obtain status

ArmInfo. The notions of the museum sphere, the kinds, the functions of the museums, the principles of handing over for temporary preservation with museum items in the State Museum of the Republic of Armenia, replenishing, registering, publicizing them, the forms of the support to the museums and collections will be fixed by the adoption of the draft, the press service of the RA NA reports.

The RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport  Alfred Kocharyan said this during the regular sitting of the Standing  Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport  held on January 9, presenting the draft law on Museums in the first  reading to the Committee members and the addenda being proposed in  the Code on Administrative Offences.

According to the rapporteur, the elaboration of the legislative  package is conditioned by the implementation of the programme of the  activity measures of the Government for 2021-2026, as well as by the  demand of the implementation of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced  Partnership Agreement Road Map.

"As a result of the adoption of the regulations, the powers of the  authorized state body will be specified, the RA National Museum  Collection, the preservation of the museum items and set of  collections included in it, the temporary export, etc. The goals of  the use of the museums, the powers of the Museums' Council," Alfred  Kocharyan said. He added that, as result of the draft law adoption,  the systemized activity of preservation and protection of cultural  heritage, the creation of the economic new mechanisms in the sphere  of culture will be ensured, as well as the relations arising between  the legal and natural persons will be regulated in the sphere.

The MPs addressed questions to the key rapporteur, which related to  the specification of the museums' status, the number of the employees  and their salary increase in the sphere, the ban of the opportunities  of the alienation of the state museums' samples and other topics.

The Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Science, Education,  Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport presented the co-report of the  draft. Taguhi Ghazaryan informed that during the period from the  first to the second reading an agreement was reached to debate more  detailed the legislative package. The MP spoke about the conditions  of the preservation of the museum samples, the museum management form  and its efficiency.  Taguhi Ghazaryan called to endorse the proposing  initiative.

The Committee unanimously voted for the adoption of the legislative  package.

The debate of the legislative package envisaging amendments and  addenda to the law on Professional Education and Teaching was  postponed by the author's proposal up to two- month term. The  Committee made a decision to organize parliamentary hearings on the  theme The Legislative Reforms and Fundamental Directions on  Professional Education and Teaching in the National Assembly on  January 24, at 12:00.
