100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour, Sergei Parajanov included in  UNESCO calendar of events

ArmInfo. During the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Assembly in Paris from November 7 to  22, a decision was made to include the 100-year anniversaries of the births of Charles Aznavour and Sergei Parajanov in UNESCO's 2024 -2025 Jubilee of Famous People and Important Events.

According to the source, applications for the inclusion of prominent  people in the calendar were submitted by the Republic of Armenia  together with partner countries, receiving significant support from a  number of member states and a group of countries. In particular, the  application for the 100th anniversary of the great French-Armenian  singer, chansonnier and actor Charles Aznavour was submitted jointly  by Armenia and France with the support of Andorra, Italy, Luxembourg,  Monaco, Portugal, Senegal and a group of French- speaking UNESCO  ambassadors, numbering more than 80 members. The application to host  events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of film director Sergei  Parajanov was submitted jointly by Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine with  the support of Cyprus, France, Italy, Lebanon and Poland.

Since 1998, 25 anniversaries presented by the Republic of Armenia  have been included in the UNESCO calendar of important events. Over  the previous two-year period, applications submitted by the RA for  the 850th anniversary of the death of Nerses Shnorali and the 100th  anniversary of the National Film Center of the RA were approved.
