Last remaining independent media and critical voices strangled by  Aliyev regime - Dutch reporter

ArmInfo. "What's happening in Azerbaijan should not be ignored. The last remaining independent  media and critical voices are being strangled in a coordinated effort by the Aliyev regime and its cronies. This comes just two months after 120K Armenians were expelled from their homes," the Dutch  journalist Thomas van Linge wrote on his X account in response to Cavid Aga, who wrote:

"Azerbaijani pro-government media is rabidly attacking all other  independent media platforms, feminists and fact-checking websites.  The last beacons of free speech are under imminent danger."

In recent days a new wave of persecution of representatives of  opposition media and public figures has begun in Azerbaijan.

On the evening of November 20, it became known about the detention of  a youth activist who runs a number of projects aimed at supporting  minorities and people with disabilities, Muhammad Kekalov. In  addition, on the same day, the leaders of Abzas Media, Ulvi Hasanli  and Sevinj Vagifgyvzy, were detained.

On November 21, a group of journalists issued a statement in support  of the detainees. The authors called on international organizations,  of which Azerbaijan is a member, to take practical steps to stop  illegal and repressive actions against press freedom. The statement  was signed by about 50 journalists representing the Turan agency,  online publications Argument.az, Toplum TV, Meydan.tv, Basta, RLC  channel, Sancaq TV, Az24saat.org, Azadlq newspaper, Kanal-13,  OV-Media, TIME TV, as well as a group of freelancers.
