Azerbaijani parliament rejects US Senate decision in protection of  Armenians

ArmInfo.The Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan issued a statement in connection with the law S.3000 (Armenian Protection Act of 2023), adopted earlier by the US Senate.  As Turan reports, the statement condemns the "anti-Azerbaijani act" and calls for taking an objective position regarding the processes in the South Caucasus.

"The Azerbaijani Parliament rejects the decision of the US Senate of  November 15. Such actions by Washington have a negative impact on  peace and stability in the region," the statement said. "Unfortunately, the United States is repeating the mistake it made  regarding Azerbaijan in 1992 with the adoption of the discriminatory  Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act.

Today's actions of the United States as a mediator have led to a loss  of trust on the part of the Azerbaijani society, and American foreign  policy has completely failed in recent years. This is evidenced by US  policy in the Middle East and Afghanistan. The Milli Majlis of  Azerbaijan once again declares that Azerbaijan will always react  decisively to all negative steps based on the norms and principles of  international law," the statement reads.

On November 16, the American Senate adopted a pro-Armenian project S.  3000 (IS) - Armenian Protection Act of 2023, depriving Azerbaijan of  military support.  This document does not allow the president to use  Public Law 107-115, which allowed the president to bypass the Section  907 of the Freedom Support Act, which prohibits providing military  assistance to Azerbaijan.  The act was introduced in the Senate on  September 29 of this year. It was introduced by US Senator Gary  Peters (D-MI). If the project is adopted by the House of  Representatives and signed by the head of state, the US President  will not be able to bypass the Section 907 and receive funding to  help Azerbaijan from budget allocations for 2024-2025.
