Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia to be on agenda of  Putin-Aliyev meeting in Uzbekistan

ArmInfo.The Kremlin hopes that the CSTO group will arrive at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border this week, this topic will be discussed at a meeting of the  presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan. This was reported to journalists  by press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov,

"This week, we hope that the inspection groupled by (CSTO Secretary  General Stanislav) Zas will still arrive at the border in order to  prepare its report for the CSTO heads of state. And tomorrow there  will be a conversation (of Vladimir Putin) with the president ( of  Azerbaijan Ilham) Aliyev, where, of course, this will also be at the  top of the agenda," he told reporters, RIA Novosti reports.  On  September 15-16, Samarkand will host a meeting of the leaders of the  Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). As part of the summit,  bilateral meetings are scheduled, in particular, between Russian  President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. On the  agenda is registration of membership in the organization of Belarus.  On September 16, Alexander Lukashenko will speak in Samarkand at a  meeting in the expanded composition of the Council of Heads of State.  Iran will also sign a memorandum of commitment in order to obtain  membership in the SCO by 2023. Presidents of Turkey Recep Tayyip  Erdogan and Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will arrive in Samarkand as a  "guest of the summit".  RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan canceled  his visit amid Azerbaijan's latest aggression against Armenia.   Bilateral meetings between Putin and Aliyev and Erdogan are planned  on the sidelines of the summit. the latest escalation on the  Armenian-Azerbaijani border is among the issues on the agenda.

On the night of September 13, the Armed Forces of the Republic of  Azerbaijan began large-scale military operations on the border with  Armenia using UAVs and large-caliber weapons. Armenia turned to  Russia, the CSTO and the UN Security Council in connection with the  aggression of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia.   In connection with the current situation, the RA police switched to  enhanced service. There are reports of dead and wounded on both  sides. According to the RA Prime Minister, 105  Armenian soldiers  were killed. And Azerbaijan confirmed the death of its 71 soldiers.   Moscow announced the achievement of a truce between the parties as of  09:00 am on September 13. Meanwhile, later the Ministry of Defense of  the Republic of Armenia reported that the hostilities were still  ongoing. The UN Security Council, at the suggestion of France, held a  special meeting the day before because of the situation on the  Armenian- Azerbaijani border. Armenia initiated a special meeting of  the OSCE Council. The CSTO will send a mission to the region. The  column of the Border Guard Department of the FSS of the Russian  Federation in the Republic of Armenia was also attacked by the  Azerbaijani armed forces.

Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan noted  that with the participation of the international community, it was  possible to reach an agreement on a ceasefire along the entire length  of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
