"Hakobavank Revival" project has been launched at reArmenia platform

ArmInfo.On the reArmenia platform (reArmenia.com), "Hakobavank Revival"  project has been launched to restore an Armenian monastery of the 5th-7th centuries.    The project envisages raising funds for the restoration and  preservation of monastery as a unique monument of the Armenian  cultural heritage and the most ancient, historical and spiritual  value of Artsakh.  The monastery is located in the village of Kolatak  in the Martakert region of the Republic of Artsakh.

The initiative to restore Hakobavank belongs to the government of  Artsakh, which cooperates with the Artsakh Diocese of the Apostolic  Church to implement the latter.

"This is a struggle to preserve the system of values of Christianity.   And Hakobavank is the link through which we can show the world and  the international community that we are fighting not only for  physical existence, but also cultural one, '' Artsakh State Minister  Artak Beglaryan said.  It is noteworthy that many companies and  individual specialists have already expressed their willingness to  participate in the restoration of the monastery.

According to the PR-company Spring, the project is carried out by the  Foundation for the Study of Armenian Architecture, control over the  quality of restoration work is the responsibility of architect Samvel  Ayvazyan, who presented the project for the restoration of  Hakobavank.

Hakobavank is one of the oldest Armenian monastic complexes. The once  spiritual, cultural and educational center has not been reconstructed  for 3 centuries and is on the verge of destruction. In addition, the  Azerbaijanis have begun the process of appropriating Hakobavank. In  particular, in Wikipedia, our monastery is presented as a monument of  Albanian culture, despite the fact that Azerbaijanis call themselves  the descendants of the Albanians. Azerbaijan devotes large resources  to the destruction or appropriation of Armenian historical and  cultural monuments.

In particular, after the 44-day war in Artsakh, Azerbaijan began to  destroy about 1,500 objects of the Armenian cultural heritage, which  came under their control. To date, about 90 cultural monuments have  been destroyed and appropriated. Such actions of the Azerbaijani side  are of a long-term nature.
