Forecast: Russia will react toughly and painfully to Azerbaijan`s  behavior

ArmInfo.Azerbaijan wants to get everything, including control over Stepanakert. Although not so long ago, Baku could only dream of control over the Artsakh Shushi  and Hadrut. Head of the Analytical Center for Globalization and  Regional Cooperation Stepan Grigoryan expressed this opinion to  ArmInfo.

"Having started the war on September 27 last year, Azerbaijan, in my  opinion, hoped to seize 3-4 Artsakh regions.  But later, events  followed a scenario that allowed Baku to get the maximum. Let's just  say, thanks to the activity of Turkey and the passivity of Russia.  Moreover, to a certain extent, Moscow continues to contribute to the  implementation of the Azerbaijani agenda today, "he stressed.

At the same time, Grigoryan noted that the recent events in the  Armenian-Russian and Azerbaijani-Russian relations suggest that there  are certain disagreements between Moscow and Baku. In particular,  according to him, in Moscow there is significant dissatisfaction with  the actions of Baku in the direction of the violation of the  ceasefire regime in Artsakh, controlled by the Russian peacekeepers.  In response, Ankara immediately decided to show support for Baku  organizing joint military exercises near the Russian-controlled  corridor in Berdzor.  This state of affairs, according to the  political scientist, has practically nothing to do with Armenia,  since only Russian troops are stationed near Berdzor. Moreover, in  his opinion, Azerbaijan is challenging Russia with exercises with  Turkey under the nose of the Russian military. In his opinion, it is  too early to say how Moscow will react to this challenge. First of  all, given the rather specific policy of the Russian Federation  towards Turkey and Azerbaijan.  "In any case, sooner or later Russia  will react to Azerbaijan's behavior. And it will react quite harshly  and painfully for Baku. And the fact that Moscow has been slow to  respond with such a reaction is due to its compromise policy with  Turkey and Azerbaijan. Mutually compromise policy, within which,  yielding something on this issue, Moscow gets some benefits on other  issues, "he stressed.

Grigoryan described the recent statement by Azerbaijani Presidential  Aide Hikmet Hajiyev regarding "ongoing discussions around additional  legal mechanisms related to the mandate of Russian peacekeepers in  Karabakh" as part of Baku's blackmail over this issue. And the  political scientist considers the silence of Moscow in response to  this blackmail to be another manifestation of the RF policy of  serving the Azerbaijani agenda.
