ArmInfo. The Armenian Assembly of America is deeply concerned about reports of an agreement signed by the Russian Federation, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia to end the war in Artsakh. This is stated in the statement of AAA, received by ArmInfo.
The organization recalled that it was Azerbaijan that launched this military offensive against Artsakh with the open and full support of Turkey, which also recruited and funded jihadist mercenaries, in direct opposition to US policy to stop the spread of global terrorism.
"We sincerely support the people of Artsakh and Armenia. We fully support the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination. The human, material and emotional losses inflicted on the Armenian people by the war are immeasurable and will require significant humanitarian assistance from the United States and the international community.
Our prayers are with the families of the fallen defenders of Artsakh, wounded soldiers and tens of thousands of civilians displaced as a result of this tragic war. We call on compatriots all over the world to unite with the people of Artsakh and provide all kinds of support to more than one hundred thousand refugees who fled to Armenia.
We also urge the United States to fully enforce Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act and impose sanctions on Turkey. The United States must not allow its leading role in the OSCE-led peace process to be usurped by the authoritarian regimes of Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan, "the AAA stressed. Earlier it became known that the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan adopted a joint statement on a ceasefire in Karabakh. According to the statement voiced by the President of the Russian Federation, a complete ceasefire begins on November 10, Azerbaijan and Armenia stop at their positions, and must also exchange prisoners. In addition, Russian peacekeepers will be stationed in Karabakh. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that this agreement was extremely difficult for him. After the announcement of the agreements, protests began in Yerevan.
