


ArmInfo. Iran welcomes the cessation of hostilities between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh as a step towards peace, Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
"We call on our neighbors, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, to engage in substantive dialogue based on respect for international law and territorial integrity," wrote the Iranian Foreign Minister.
According to IRNA, Zarif also highly appreciated Russia's constructive efforts to establish a ceasefire in Karabakh. In the zone of the Karabakh conflict at noon Moscow time, a ceasefire agreement entered into force, adopted on Saturday night following many hours of talks in Moscow between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia.
The statement, read out following the results of trilateral consultations by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, says that the parties agreed to declare a ceasefire from 12:00 on October 10 for humanitarian purposes for the exchange of prisoners of war and other detained persons and bodies of through the mediation and in accordance with the criteria of the International red cross.
